Summer Festival Essentials

Summer festivals such as Coachella are what people are looking forward to on their holidays. If you’re a newbie to summer festivals, there are items that you absolutely must bring to survive hours at a music festival. So grab your lightest backpack and fill it up with these things before leaving for the festival.

It’s going to be hot and exhausting at a summer festival. Don’t bother trying to buy beverages at the festival, a lot of them are costly because the sellers know water would be in high demand. Water fountains aren’t precisely sanitary as well. It is best to bring your own water bottle at your disposal any time you want. If you run out, then you can fill it up in the water fountain. At least your mouth wouldn’t be directly touching the water fountain, so it’s slightly more sanitary. Keeping yourself hydrated is also essential to keep going to a summer festival.

Sunblock

Have we mentioned that it’s going to be hot? The last thing you want out of a summer festival is sunburnt, peeling skin instead of a glowing tan. Make sure you protect your skin with sunblock before going out under the sun and re-apply the sunscreen every two to three hours for maximum protection. You should also apply aloe vera after you’re done for the day to restore moisture into your skin and to prevent it from drying and peeling. If you have blisters, cover it immediately with band-aids.

The portable toilets are going to be horrid and disgusting, it’s inevitable. Hundreds of people will use it, so don’t expect it to look like the usual public toilet (which are also not that sanitary, to begin with). Carry with you both wet and dry tissues. Use the wet tissue to wipe clean the toilet seat before you sit on it, and the dry tissue to wipe yourself. You might also find it hard to access the toilets since it’ll have a long queue or it’ll be miles away from the stage, so maybe you’ll have to tinker behind a bush, and that’s when your tissues will really come in handy. You should also carry a sanitary spray for your hands and for the toilet seat itself.

Change of Clothes

You’ll never know what will happen to your clothes during a festival. It might rain, or you might fall into mud. If it’s a really crazy music festival, then you might find yourself spilling your drink on it or finding puke on it at the end of the day (yours or someone else’s, who knows). This is why you’ll need to pack a change of clothes. Nothing too heavy, a light t-shirt and shorts and underwear should do just fine. You can fold it really tight inside a ziplock bag and hairdry it to make it airtight so it won’t take too much space in your bag.
